The Big Eye needle is all eye.    There are two pieces of metal attached at either end.   You pull them apart in the middle, to get a giant 'eye'.   You use these when the stringing material is noticeably thicker than a beading thread.     Examples:   bead cord, yarn, pearl cotton, embroidery thread, string.
